John
Bullard has been telling stories with pictures and sound for more than for thirty years at the local and network level. He
started in 1975 in local news shooting and editing 16 mm film and learning a new camera system called ENG. He continued to
do local news and production until 1980.
1980 found John heading to Washington, D.C. where he
joined a fledgling news organization called CNN. As one of the original seven camera crews for CNN in Washington, he covered
the last days of the Carter Administration, Ronald Reagan's landslide election, the American hostage return from Iran
and the assassination attempt on President Reagan.
In 1981, John moved "across the street"
to ABC News. As a White House camera crew member, he traveled around the world with Presidents Reagan and Bush. Several of
the stories he covered for "World News Tonight", "Nightline", and "20/20" were nominated for
national Emmy Awards. He also covered the Air Florida crash, the 1986 Challenger disaster and several political campaigns.
In 1990, John transferred to the ABC News Atlanta Bureau. During his eleven years based in the South
he has covered the 1991 Pan -American Games in Havana, Hurricane Andrew, the election of President Bill Clinton
& the subsequent investigations concerning Whitewater, Paula Jones & Monica Lewinski; the Pope's visit to
Cuba, the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta, the Oklahoma City bombing, the raising of the Confederate submarine Hunley, the presidential
election from Nashville, Tennessee and Tallahassee, Florida, and was part of the ABC News Emmy Award-winning Millennium
broadcast.
In September 2001, utilizing all his resources and knowledge, he formed the video production
company, Lip Flap Productions, where he is a lighting cameraman/Director of Photography. He still tells stories
with pictures and sound.
